Zimbabwe continues sinking

by Mutimba @ Wednesday, Apr. 23, 2008 - 20:24:04

Fellow Readers,

You have all had enough of the Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe. He has mistreated his people and has made sure he clings to power by asking for a re-run in what many see was a stolen vote.

On Tuesday, April 22, just as Democrats went to the polls in Pennsyvania, there were reports that a tanker carrying arms had been turned back from South Africa's docks.

Whatever the case, Mugabe is getting desperate and will use every means available to him to cling on to power.

Another option that is difficult to exploit and explore, and this I have always told my Zimbabwean colleagues, is that of allowing Tsvangirai to give some immunity to his predecessor, though by international standards, many will consider that to be quite foolish.

World leaders and other peace-loving' people have been calling on all African'leaders to boycott the ship carrying arms. The Zambian president, Levy Patrick Mwanawasa, SC, has been outspoken in criticising the idea of importing arms into Zimbabwe.

We are yet to hear more on the latest. A re-run is definitely in no-ones'interest and quite far away from what people should consider, or are considering as an option in this crisis.

Let's hope for stability.

MM
